It is obvious that examples of Optimistic Intelligence are also seen in criticisms. This is such a case. Optimistic Intelligence is about creating more trusting cooperative communication by using objectivity, creativity and empathy in useful ways that meet real human need. Romney needs to use more of these things, rather than his favorite toy the “etch a sketch”.

It is good to see that there is some real goodness expressed here in this video.

God and Virtue: Spirituality over blind religion.

Always question, for questioning begin and end all understandings that are even remotely useful.  The questions about God are the same, and truly spiritual people are never afraid to doubt.  Why?  Because doubt is the humility necessary for learning how best to live, it is the way we grow, and it is the way we know that, whether or not some idea of God exists, our thoughts and beliefs, the thoughts and beliefs of other, or ancient books claiming to speak for God, should never be considered “God”.  Perhaps all that is even close to “godlike” is found in our virtues, which are nothing more or less than the perfection of our abilities to love..

God can only be defined as our own vision of what an ideal virtuous and loving human being should be, I have not problem talking to such a reflection of ourselves and I wish the religious would do a better job of it.  Whether there is a supreme source of “love” and a method by which that love will win out in the end, or not, we can gain a joy that misery has a harder time to dampen if we act in loving virtuous ways and help build both trust and peace around the world.  One day we will seek such a communication between our abilities to love and trust, or one day we will perish.  Either way, it’s up to us.  Some say there is a God to smile if we succeed, some imagine such a God smiling, some just feel how good it is to love, trust, and feel their lives fully.

Why Freedom Isn’t Free

Freedom is a journey past tyranny to the beauty found in all things. Rev. David Mitchel Stow

Freedom is more than just a word.  Freedom, in order to avoid tyranny, requires a proper division of duties.  Duties are forms of social power, and all duties require the use of virtue. Freedom sings to us, it tells us when our attempts to love are off key, it brings hope to the hopeless and guidance to the strong.

Freedom depends upon virtues, or else there is no freedom from tyranny. Virtues are ways of giving love in all  our communications whether of word or deed.  Virtues are powers for good when they work together:  there is no goodness without truth, no truth without goodness,  no truth or goodness without art.  So even such powers to care, which we call virtues, even they must be divided to function well, for they are built upon empathy which gives us goodness, objectivity that gives us truth, and creative perspectives that give us art (the ability to appreciate our world, others and ourselves and to see the beauty in life).  Such abilities must each be clear in their purpose and refrain from doing the work of the others, while remaining in communication with them.  They need each other, and they need the hard work of learning to use them rightly in both our words and deeds.

Freedom, because it requires skills and the skillful division of duties, or powers, is truly hard work, and oddly enough, it is thus never free.

Freedom requires diligence and demands virtuous love and honest trust, but the search for what is free leans toward greed, and greed enslaves us.

Free is ok for things, but freedom is what blesses the living.

Freedom is not seeking to have what’s free, nor seeking to be free to do whatever we like.  Freedom is a way of life, a calling to our soul to lift not just ourselves but others.  Freedom is the way of wisdom, and wisdom never comes without effort toward virtues and their proper communication.  Freedom may free you from tyranny, but it does so with a cost, sometimes even the cost of our lives.

Freedom isn’t free.

Yet those who embrace freedom as their guide, are free indeed.

Most understand Yoga to be a set of physical exercises and breathing techniques with perhaps a few chants thrown in. Actually Yoga is a method of inward change. This change is one which puts us in touch with our virtues. Virtues are what help us to express love. They also help us to find the beauty of life. When we experience this beauty we find our bliss and our destiny. Inner-Yoga

As we read the Bhagavad Gita we see a story unfolding that is symbolic of entering into our own dream of life. Krishna is the charioteer,the artist and creator of the dream Arjuna is experiencing as his life. Krishna draws his chariot between two armies. Here he has a discussion with Arjuna.

Krishna explains the situation in the dream that Arjuna would call his life. When the story concludes Arjuna has seen that Krishna, the Artist of the dream, is both everything in the dream and the Lord or controller of the dream. What we find as we enter our own dream of life is a more buoyant or optimistic self. This optimistic self brings us optimistic intelligence. This entire process of inner yoga can be understood as a form of optimistic integration.

Real optimism isn’t about believing anything, it’s about feeling that natural buoyancy in life that exists more and more as our damaged faith in love is healed.

When our hearts honestly feel what happened to us. Then and only then can we grieve what we have lost in life. This grief springs from times when damage to our faith in love occurred.

Only after we have accepted our losses can we forgive whatever and whoever may have caused them.

Only after we have forgiven life, others and ourselves, can we begin to to fully heal.

Then is when we can repent from our hearts for wishing harm to any other, a wish stemming from our own inner hurt. This path is the pattern of real change that I call the path of kindness.

Inner-yoga is about following this path of kindness instead of the path of punishment. The path of punishment reverses the order of the kinder steps of change.

Optimistic Intelligence: When Hearts Embrace

Teaching, spiritual, the self, guru, teacher, student

When hearts embrace they see the beauty of life, and their path, though humble is bright. and optimistic. This path is the path of optimistic intelligence.

Hearts embrace, they find caring and caring finds trust, and the communication between caring and trust is a communication with virtue: this is optimistic intelligence. Following this find your heart, find your real self, and always be content to be you, for you, living your life, this is your destiny. When hearts embrace their minds find virtue.

Optimistic Intelligence is demonstrated in people who have an embracing attitude toward the real needs of their human fellows. They do not forget the sick, the lame, the elderly or the defenseless young. They are not motivated by greed and do not use cleverness to rob others. They embrace the good in all things. They see past evil to the fear and pain within it. They never abandon when uplifting has the smallest chance of success. They will strive tirelessly to bring appreciation and honor to the worthy destinies born of hope even in the darkest of hearts. Humility of heart brings them the bliss of honest wonder in a world unimaginably magnificent, and contentment just to be themselves.

The path of healing or the path of punishment, these are the choices in this world. The path of healing produces optimistic intelligence.

What is optimistic intelligence? It is what is born in the heart of hope that seeks the comfort of virtues and extends that comfort to others. Only the birth of an honest heart wrapped in the comfort of Truth, Art and Goodness can begin the journey to optimistic intelligence. Only the intelligence of an empathetic heart, the wisdom of a humble seeker of objectivity, and the vision of a hero lost in creativity, can find and lift the honest heart to its destiny. The journey to this destiny is the destiny, the growth in optimistic intelligence is always sufficient as the growth is in fact our destiny in action.

The lessons of the path of our destiny are not learned only by communication and action in our daily lives, but also in our internal lives of dreams and daydreams. The discipline of embracing dialogues between forms of trust and the caring inherent in all virtues within the dialogues in our daydreams, opens our dreams, and opens our lives. Naturally, hearts embrace, and when hearts embrace virtue sings.

When your heart yearns to embrace the world, it will find a welcoming fellowship of those that know their destiny by living it.

Welcome, those whose hearts embrace the world. Life is your welcome mat, living is your joy, the world is your home, and all humanity is your family. Seek optimistic intelligence and be content always to honestly be yourself, for the honest you was always and will always be your destiny. Connecting to yourself and others with love is true intelligence and the power of its comfort will guide you to your bliss.

Follow your heart, embrace the world.
